SURVIVAL II

SURVIVAL II explores the vulnerability of people and places. The raku firing process is unpredictable and results in broken pieces during the raku firing stage.

This work had been created for the degree show. As it was installed in the east wing of the Mackintosh building, it was one of the artworks that survived unscathed. This installation was then selected for the exhibition Part Seen, Imagined Part: GSA in Dunoon 2014.

Part Seen, Imagined Part:
GSA in Dunoon 2014

Dunoon Burgh Hall July 2014

Curated by: Theresa Moerman Ib and Colm Docherty

With work by: Ellis Mhairi Cameron, Lin Chau, Romy Galloway, Joe Hancock, Zheng Li, Nicola Massie, Melissa Maloco, Frank McElhinney and Norman Sutton-Hibbert.

The third annual exhibition of selected work from The Glasgow School of Art’s Degree Show, to be shown in the Burgh Hall, Dunoon. The exhibition will include both Fine Art and Design, and aims to bring the work to an audience who might not normally encounter it. This year’s show is a conscious effort to provide a visual space for reflection on the events that have affected the entire GSA community over the past weeks in the aftermath of the fire. At the same time, it celebrates the resilient spirit of the graduates as they continue to make their mark beyond the physical boundaries of the art school itself.
